2011 Photographic Competition

"Cornish Domestic Architecture"

Houses that people live in and appreciate in Cornwall. What makes a successful Cornish building?

Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust (CSBT) is launching a photographic competition to find out what Cornish residents like about their houses whether old, new, traditional or contemporary. CSBT hope the competition will help find out what Cornish people find distinctive and appealing about the buildings around them in Cornwall. CSBT will then use this information as a useful resource for the Cornwall Council Planning Authority to understand what makes a desirable and appropriate house in a Cornish setting.

Under 18 and over 18 amateur photographers will be judged by a team of three ? a professional photographer, Paul Bright, CEO of CSBT and a representative from Cornwall Council Planning Department.

There will be prizes in both categories for the top three entries, and CSBT are hoping to use 12 photographs from the competition to include in a calendar for 2012.

Photographs should be submitted (in unmounted A4 print format) by to CSBT, Tehidy Cottages, Burngullow Lane, St Austell, PL26 7TQ by Monday 6 June 2011.

Full rules of the competition can be found at www.csbt.org.uk

The Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust are delighted to be able to announce the introduction of a new category in the Cornwall Sustainability Awards, specifically aimed at buildings.

Cornwall has an excellent history of sustainable buildings, and this year CSBT will be introducing a special building category in the awards, that we hope will evolve into an annual celebration of the best sustainable buildings in Cornwall. The flyer detailing this new award can be found here.

The aim of Cornwall Sustainability Awards is to encourage, reward and gain recognition for some of the excellent work businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are doing to improve their sustainability.  The awards are designed so that companies of all sizes and from any sector can apply.  If you are addressing environmental, social and economic impacts in the management of your business, this is your chance to showcase your ideas and become an award winning local company.

Full details of the criteria and how to apply will be available soon on the Cornwall Sustainability Awards website.  The awards will be open for entries in early August with a closing date of 24th September.
